In the midst of working and trying to balance the details of everyday life, I have still found time to create and paint! I can't wait until Monday when I have the whole day to myself, uninterrupted to just make art. I really value those Mondays now that I am able to have them, they are fantastic and I can't imagine spending them any other way. Little by little I am completing bits and pieces of various projects during my spare hours after work. Last night around one in the morning, I decided that I needed to get an idea out of my head and start sketching. I was inspired by Kelly Rae's Course that I am taking and felt the need to depict a representation of the transformation taking place with all that I have learned so far. Very exciting and I can't wait to get started on it. Of course it had to involve "wings" so the obvious choice was a butterfly! (A Black Swallowtail butterfly - love the colours!) Here it is in my sketch book, it needs work, especially the figure but not too bad for tired, squinty eyes! ;)
So, good night/good morning! I can't wait till Monday and I never ever thought I'd be saying that in a million years... ;)
Just for the sake of a laugh for any of the Dad's out there... :D
(from Fathers Day Celebration)
The little girl was sitting in her grandfather's lap as he read her a story. From time to time, she would take her eye's off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. By and by she was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again.
Finally she spoke, "Granddaddy, did God make you?"
"Yes, sweetheart" he answered, "God made me a long time ago."
"Oh she said," then "Granddaddy, did God make me too?"
"Yes, indeed honey" he assured her. "God made you just a little while ago."
"Oh" she said. Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, "God's getting better at it now isn't he?"
Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's and Grandpa's out there! Have a fantastic day! :)
Your art is so exquisite--I love the butterfly lady, and much congrats on your first sale! Very cute little Father's day story :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful creations! So glad to be able to get to know each other through our "Flying Lessons" ecourse. I will be checking regularly to enjoy your work.
ReplyDeleteOh my god this is too funny....guess what I just bought today? A large cork board and a dry erase board for my art room. Great minds think alike I guess. :) BTW, that butterfly mandala is insane. I can't wait to see what other creations you produce! And can't wait to buy one - you opening an Etsy account one day?
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny! The cork boards and the white boards are so necessary though aren't they? Mine are already full of stuff, lol...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment on the butterfly mandala! I can't say I've ever put a figure in one before, trying something new.
